In order to promote international exchanges and broaden students’ international horizons, Xuhai College of China University of Mining and Technology (XUCMT) held the 2nd International Exchange Workshop for Visual Communication Design majors on September 7, inviting Professor Lia Vilahur from University of Applied Sciences of Reutlingen (Germany) to visit XUCMT for exchanges. Zhou Shenghu, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, Yang Yong, head of the visual communication design program, and teachers and students of the visual communication design program participated in the related activities.
This international exchange workshop consisted of academic report, international cooperation seminar, theme creation and creation guidance. In the morning, Prof. Lia Vilahur gave an academic report entitled “Color Experimental Training”, explaining the current international color cutting-edge dynamics and development direction to the teachers and students of visual communication design, sharing the factors of color harmony, the composition of the color language, and the influence of color on emotions and behavior, and answering common questions in the design of the students. He also answered students’ common questions in design. In the afternoon, Prof. Lia Vilahur went into the visual communication design labs and design-specific classrooms to carry out the thematic guidance on design and color, and explained and commented on the students’ works. Afterwards, faculty members discussed with Prof. Lia Vilahur about professional development, teaching cooperation, research exchange and other issues.
This international exchange workshop advocates breaking through the inertia thinking, carrying out experiential learning, enhancing the teachers’ and students’ forward-looking consciousness and international vision, building a good platform for students to smoothly realize the transformation of knowledge and improve their application ability, and creating opportunities for international exchange and cooperation of art majors.
